Giridhara mamava – Navaroz – Geetam

Shri Chitravina N Ravikiran teaches the Navroz geetam, ‘Giridhara mamava’ set to Rupaka talam. Shri Ravikiran throws some light on this unique raga, whose range is just one octave – from the lower Pa to the middle Pa. He explains why such ragas are sung in the madhyama shruti before teaching the geetam in both swara-based and lyrics-based formats.
