Geetams are essential introductory lessons that precede larger compositions such as varnams and krthis in Carnatic Music. Geetams provide an excellent introduction to the raga contours and must be mastered before proceeding to higher levels. In this video lesson collection of 28 geetams, Guru Shri Chitravina N Ravikiran gives an introduction to each raga with key phrases followed by a swara (solfa) and sahitya (lyrics) rendition. The lessons have been recorded live in a class-room session. Students will also gain insights into the learning process through numerous tips and guides provided by the guru.
