Shyama Sastri

About Shyama Sastri

Shyama Sastri(1762–1827) was the oldest of the carnatic music trinity and composed around 300 Kritis, Varnams and Swarajatis in Telugu and Sanskrit about the goddess Kamakshi with the mudra, " Shyama Krishna". He did not have many disciples and his music was not very appealing to the public as they were very scholarly in nature which made it harder to propagate his teachings hence, only few scholars and disciples could keep his music alive until today.
