This audio album was the second of Chitravina N Ravikiran’s “Celestial Ragas” Series featuring a first-of-its-kind high level vocal-instrumental ensemble, Vintage Virtuosos. The album opens with insights into raga Bhairavi by Sangita Kalanidhi D K Pattammal followed by a collection of many exquisite pieces in the raga. Ravikiran presented similar albums featuring ragas Begada & Mukhari as well as many other albums with this ensemble which won rave reviews across the world for musical excellence.
The Ensemble
Vintage Virtuosos is a unique ensemble founded by Ravikiran in 1991, to project masterpieces of Carnatic music with an authentic and aesthetic approach. A combination of voices and instruments, this group was dedicated to practice, perfect and preserve these compositions through concerts, lecture-demonstrations and audio/video productions. This album features Lata Ravikiran, Savita Narasimhan, Chitravina Ganesh (vocal), Akkarai Subhalakshmi (violin), Murthy (flute), Neyveli R Narayanan (mrdangam) and N Guruprasad (ghatam).
