Dudukugala – Gowla -Thyagaraja
Learn the Gowla Pancharatna krithi, Dudukugala, composition of Thyagaraja, taught by Sangita Kalanidhi Shri Chitravina N Ravikiran.
The second pancharatna krithi of Sri Thyagaraja Swamy is ‘Duduku Gala Nanne dora koduku brochura’ , in the Ghana raga, Gowla, being one of the most beautiful composition written in Telugu. The theme of the composition is rather serious where Thyagaraja reproaches himself for his own faults and shortcomings compared to the other Pancharatnas. The Gowla raga has many mantra sthayi usages and vocal students would need to be practice the lower octaves to render these passages effectively.
It would be a good idea to go through the geethams in the Ghana ragas to get a good grasp of these ragas such as Shree Ramachandra in Gowla, Sarasa Nayana in Varali, Harihara vinuta in Nattai, Re re shreerama in Arabhi, and Meenakshi in Shree.
